Pierson!

My good friends Pete and Tucker Pawlick have started a men's outfitter they call Pierson. Their first product is a lovely pair of chinos which I had the pleasure of photographing last weekend. They will be posting a kick-starter video shortly (which we also shot) in hopes of raising needed funds to get off the ground. You can learn a bit more here.

Stanley Update...

I've decided I'd like to stay around the Fort Greene area. When I told my pal David I might be moving back to the Williamsburg/Greenpoint hood his reply was "welcome back to the under 30 neighborhood!" Poor David will be a lost man in 2 1/2 years. Lately...

Going home...maybe?

Yesterday evening I received a drunk dial from my old landlord Stanley, who was my hero my first year in Brooklyn. I eventually moved away because I couldn't afford the place without my parents help but have often thought about Greenpoint and my time there. 3 years later:

Willy- eets Stanley! Guy move from your apartment- eets free! Willy, you good guy, you live here, I know you, I don't charge more rent. Willy!

Our Digs in the Bahamas...

While working in the Bahamas we stayed at the Gray Cliff Hotel which is a colonial mansion built in 1740 by a famous pirate (im not kidding). The swimming pool was the first pool built on any Caribbean island. In the evenings guests smoke in house rolled cigars in a living room full of antique furniture around a woman covering Billy Holiday tracks on an old piano. It is PERFECT.

Bill Allard...

I'll open these 2 pictures by Bill Allard sometimes when I'm working from my computer and click between them after I've finished an invoice or email. There's something so wonderful about the low light and the the long shutter causing the images to soften slightly. I've met Bill and spoken to him about his process- I asked him at one point if he had scrimmed a subject in a picture I particularly like and he said, "Scrim? A scrim! ...you dont bring a fucking scrim to photograph the Amish."

...Bill's the kind of photographer you think you'll be before you learn how 99% of them manage to make a living.

I directed/shot this promotion for Marimekko with the the design agency Method. It was a trip collaborating with Carola (Producer), Charlie (music), and Mark (music)- all fellow bates grads. Bates churns out good people- you should give the school $$.

brother mason is a bad ass...

Mason was recently confirmed as the executive chef to a new restaurant in New Orleans opening in partnership with Coquette. He's 25 years old and was promoted to Sous Chef at Coquette after 1 and a half years of working there. Coquette is currently the #1 trip adviser restaurant recommendation in New Orleans. CONGRATS many times over Mason, you deserve it.
