Holding the edit slightly too long...

I love holding frames slightly too long. Sometimes a bit of magic happens directly after the edit should have ended. You can see this in my Cooking Dinner video in moments when Ithai leaves the frame for no particular reason. It's wonderful and extremely hard to recreate when you're directing someone that is waiting for you to tell them what to do. It's this gray area between documentary and narrative that interests me: where you have the ability to dictate the light and location and then you're given a subject full of confidence. This video of the sea is that idea on steroids. It's a 10 minute commitment but I loved it:
